3 Powerful Questions to Plan Your Breakthrough Year

I love this time as we approach a new year. It seems as if the world gets more still and quiet as we inch that much closer to a new start. I can hear more, see more and feel more.

    Reflection

It’s a time of reflection and gratitude for where you are and where you’ve been this last year. The challenges that you’ve overcome, the lessons learned, the people who made a difference in your life, the celebrations, the places you visited – all the wondrous things that have been part of your journey in the previous year.

I’ve heard from so many of you that’s it’s been a bit rocky and hard to breakthrough barriers, but that’s okay. The best part is this - You made it! You’re here! You get to celebrate. You get to start again. That in itself is something huge and powerful to be grateful for no matter where you find yourself.

Reflection is a very powerful exercise because it allows you to be grateful for all you’ve accomplished and be brutally honest (with compassion) about what worked and what didn’t to set the stage for your breakthrough year.

    Planning Ahead

As you plan and aim for your goals in this next year. What are you dreaming of doing, being, feeling, and experiencing in the coming year. What barriers do you need to breakthrough that have stood in your way? Consider these questions as you ponder the possibilities.

Where do I want to be this time next year?

Imagine what it looks like, what it feels like, identify the emotions of reaching your goals - who you’re with, what you’re doing, and what you’re grateful for in that moment will help you experience it. Imagination is powerful, it is a catalyst for transforming dreams into reality. But of course, you have to put the actions behind it to support the vision.

Who do I need to be to make this happen?

Do you need to be brave…braver, patient, daring, a technology wiz, compassionate, assertive, or collaborative. Identify the qualities and skills you need to get results then find a way to make it possible - read the book, hire the mentor, ask for a sponsor, take the course, invest in the program that will help you add valuable skills to your success toolkit.

What actions do I need to take to get results?

Write it down and be specific about exactly what you need to do. How many clients do you need to book to meet your income goals? How many massages do you need to manage stress? How many networking events do you need to attend to meet new prospects? How many date nights should you schedule to keep your relationship healthy? How many days off do you need to keep sane? How many resumes do you need to send to land your dream job? Get crystal clear on the specific actions that get you where you want to be. Then consistently take time to review what you’ve done, the results, and tweak as you learn more about what works best for you.

    Final thoughts

See breakthroughs don’t happen by accident. They’re a result of intent, vision, and boldness. Amazing things are happening for you, step forward in confidence and faith.
